Since my scanner is broken and Sandusky is consequently on a brief hiatus, I decided to take some time to put together a drawing that is most definitely not in the Sandusky universe (at least style-wise). I've had a story running around in my head for awhile, and I decided to start to put pen to paper. Whether or not it ever becomes anything more than a one hit wonder is anybody's guess at this point. I really enjoyed putting it together, but I also spent a heck of a lot more time on it than I do on a typical Sandusky page (hopefully, that's obvious). Anyway, I figured you guys would like to take a look at it while Sandusky plots his return. As for the story in my head, I ain't tellin'. Let the speculation begin. Attachments:

The artwork looks gorgeous, John. Are you planning to use it for a future comic strip? Also, I just looked up the word "Amity" on dictionary.com and for one of the definitions it said that it was a feminine name. So is the cougar depicted in the illustation female? Plus I just found out that Amity means friendship or peaceful harmony. So I depict just by looking at the amazing quality of the picture that the stroyline would be quite ascetic. (unlike, Sandusky, which is purely for comic relief).

Thanks! Perhaps...if I can find the time and energy. It wouldn't be done like Sandusky, though. Maybe sporadic updates (once or twice a month) or direct to book after completion. Unlike Sandusky, the focus would be on quality, not quantity. Yes, indeed she is. And I just found out that ascetic means self-denying, austere, or puritanical. I couldn't call the story ascetic in the purest sense of the word. However, Amity has deeper meaning than just being a feminine name.

It is very nice, but as far as a comic style, it doesn't really jump out at me. I guess I'm kinda particular about what I like and/or it takes me awhile to get into an art style. But hey, I'm just one guy. There are probably people who like this style and don't like your current Sandusky art/story style. As you said, you can certainly do both. Not trying to be a killjoy or anything, just being honest. You clearly put a lot of effort into this and I'm not trying to downplay that effort.

Just kidding! ;D Here's a slightly tweaked version. I've added some definition around her mouth, because mountain lions do indeed have lips. I've also darkened the rocks a bit, because, well, I thought they should be darker. Attachments:

I've also noticed that it's raining like crazy in the pic. Could the female cougar possibly be a Florida Panther living in the Everglades? Or is it just pouring cats and dogs?

Don't get too excited. I don't expect new drawings to come out this rapidly very often, but I also don't want to deny you the pleasure of viewing them (since there's no Sandusky this week). By the way, the reason I can do these and not update Sandusky is that the drawings I used for these had already been scanned in before my scanner bit the dust. Attachments:

Just kidding! ;D LOL. Yea. No matter how I tried, it seemed like my post was bringing down your drawing, even though that was not what I was trying to do.
