I don't think there will be any new Sandusky strips for the rest of the week (or possibly longer), as I just found out that the biggest influence on the strip, and Sandusky's real life counterpart, had to be put down this morning. Noki stopped eating a few days back, and when they brought him into the vet to figure out why, he was found to have a very advanced form of cancer. He was such a strong and healthy cat. It's hard to believe he could be gone so quickly. I know you are all animal lovers, so I'm sure that you will understand. Rest in peace, Noki.

Doh man... only four years old? That just seems too young for such a vibrant-looking cat to succumb to death..... hope you are doing well, John.

Here's a painting I did for the sanctuary in remembrance of Noki.

Belatedly, but... I'm so very sorry to hear about the loss of Noki. Take your time and come back with more Sandusky if/when you feel like it. He does look so adorable and healthy in the photos, indeed hard to believe he could develop cancer at such a young age and succumb to it. Sadly, it happens.

That's a beautiful painting and tribute John. Very said that Noki died. He looked like such a beautiful and friendly cougar.

very belated and was wondering why the strip not been updated in quite awhile. am so sorry to hear of your loss i love your strips and look forward to when/if you feel the urge to continue. The painting is very gorgeous and they are lucky to have someone like you to've done such a piece for them. He looked like he was a friendly wild animal.
