Sad story for those of us who like Cougars. I've been meaning to post this story, but forgot until now. We recently had a Cougar get hit by a car near Bemidji MN. Supposedly it was a female Cougar which, would be a good thing if it hadn't been hit by a car, meaning a breeding population might becoming established. Overpopulation of deer is a problem in many parts of ND and MN and anything other than cars that puts a check on their population and doesn't hurt humans is seen by most as a good thing. If only Cougars could be kept like farm cats where instead of bringing you dead birds and mice they brought back a doe. That would make the feeding aspect easier. www.minnpost.com/chuckhaga/2009/09/22/11793/dnr_confirms_110-lb_mountain_lion_killed_on_road_near_bemidjiBTW, with my work in jails I've met the officer in the photo. He's a good 6'5" tall. That's why the Cougar seems so small in relation.
