For those of you unfamiliar with Sandusky's "Puttin' on the Ritz" line in the last panel, check out these YouTube videos.
Fred Astaire's Puttin on the Ritz
Young Frankenstein's Puttin on the Ritz

John, Take as long of a break as you need! HEY!!!! Be careful, I don't want Sandusky being like Outsider, with a new strip every 3 months. As for using little kids to distract a Mountain Lion. Make sure you use the dumb children. Smart kids might take a little longer for a ML to get, making you a more attractive target. ;D With having to wait until next week for more Sandusky, you most certainly do deserve to have your time off. (No matter how much I don't like it.) I'll have to make do with the other strips I frequent and go through the Sandusky archives some more. Losing more and more daylight up here in ND. I'm either going to be spending more time indoors or more money on AA batteries for my NVDs. You're not losing as much so you still have plenty of daylight to enjoy. You better not waste it.

Im not worried as John is one of the only (if not the only) webcomic artist that have have a 3x a week update and able to keep up with it! Even some of the other webcomics I read, the artist cant keep up with 1 or 2 updates a week!

Mark Stanley draws Freefall 3x per week but he doesn't do the color himself. I have no idea how popular Sandusky is as I don't see the traffic figures, but the Forum is rather empty vs the Freefall forum. That of course could just mean that people aren't posting on the forum just like I wasn't for a few years. Hopefully the popularity picks up as we get more and more strips. The 500 mark of course has been reached and that's a good milestone. That's the problem today with webcomics, there is so much good stuff that you really have to compete to get noticed.

Sandusky typically gets around 3000 unique visitors on days that I update. Non-update days average around 2000 visitors. I don't know how that compares to other strips, but I have a theory as to the lack of message board activity. Sandusky's not controversial, not political, not focused on gaming, not overly "furry", it doesn't have a soap opera-like storyline, and it's not porn. A decent amount of people view it, but it rarely draws comments beyond "today's strip was funny" or "I don't get the reference". Why is that? Well, I'm guessing it's because I have a very eclectic readership. The strips that have a very focused audience (gamers, furries, etc.) may get fewer visitors, but the ones they do get all have that specific thing in common and really enjoy discussing it. For instance, if this were a comic strip completely about Monty Python, I could simply mention "The Ministry of Silly Walks" and get dozens of posts about it. However, I'd bet that at least 90% of my current audience would have no idea what I was talking about. I'd get one post (and maybe a couple of e-mails) expressing complete confusion. And then, perhaps, I'd get one or two posts from people who love it. In a Monty Python-specific webcomic, the discussion would grow and grow to include "The Lumberjack Song", "Fish Slapping", "The Parrot Sketch", and many others. And, to prevent the 90% of you who don't know what on earth I'm talking about from having to Google "The Ministry of Silly Walks", here you go...

I'd just hate to have you doing all this work and only have a few people reading it. Hmm, very astute observation. I suppose my concern stems from Sandusky vs some of the other comics I frequent and now that I look at it, most are aimed at a more specific audience. Freefall, Sandra and Woo, Book of Biff, Girl Genius, etc probably appeal to a smaller group of people and would generate more comments vs viewership. Though Freefall probably attracts a wider audience than some of the others. Going back through the archive I had completely forgotten that you updated 5 days a week for nearly two months. That certainly would result in burnout and justify some off time. I'll just continue to post away like I usually do. ;D

I think that is a pretty good symmetrization too. The only major difference in the forums itself here compared to some of the more busier forums is that this forum does not encourage of topic threads (forum games, RP, etc.)

Here I get to just discuss Sandusky and his misadventures. A nice mental pressure relief valve to help vent the stress of everyday life and the stress of my other online adventures.

Happy birthday as well. I'm never good with Birthdays, I just don't remember them. THe only time I find out is when someone else tells me. 5.56x45 vs 7.62x39
They are rifle cartridges. The 7.62x39 is typically used in the AK-47 and variants while the 5.56x45 is used in AR-15s. (Though one of my AKMs is chambered in 5.56.) There is a never ending debate on gun forums over which one is better.
