I meant to get this new thread up prior to today's strip, but I was running late finishing it and consequently forgot. Crosshair and Meckelbu, if you guys would like to re-post your comments on today's strip in this thread, you are more than welcome to do so. I'm not sure how long these "gag-a-day" strips will continue. I'm guessing it'll be a good month or so until a new storyline commences, but you never know what may crop up in the meantime. I'm working on tweaking my inking method a bit in Photoshop. You may notice that the lines are a bit thicker in places. With the little bit of extra time I now have (having gone back to 3 strips per week), I figured I'd try and improve the quality of my linework by increasing their variability. Then again, you guys might not notice anything at all.

I did take notice, life has just been so hectic for me that I haven't managed to find the energy to respond. Anyhow, congratulations again for reaching 500 strips of quality comic, John! ;D While keeping to your schedule pretty well, comics which are on semi-constant hiatus or come out otherwise erratically are mollifying, so a big thank you for not slipping into that. I suppose you still enjoy drawing Sandusky too, since you haven't.

Oops, my bad. Never saw the new thread. I just keep the current thread open in my "comics" Firefox window and just hit "F5". Did my monthly computer rebooting and found the new thread.

Aw Bunker. You interrupted Sandusky's nap to have him take care of a Scorpion? Why not grab one of Scott's shoes and just take care of it that way? Scrape off what's left and then hose the rest down the drain. Or just squish it and then let Scott take care of the rest. Poor Sandusky, getting a stinger in the paw is really going to hurt. I hope they have plenty of ice in the freezer. You would think that Sandusky would have learned to not trust Bunker on such matters by now. Yesterday was really funny. My SOT dealer got the Form 4 back for the AOW I was getting so I went over to pick it up. I get to his house and we go in to fill out the paperwork. I pull out the chair and say, "Whoops, looks like I got a cat." One of their cats was sound asleep in the chair. So he says the cat is friendly and I should be fine to pick her up. Sure enough I have a purring cat in my lap that I'm petting with my left hand while filling out ATF paperwork with my right. Gaaaa, I want a cat so much. Got to find a way to make it happen. The one I was petting is a young one that they have been looking for a home so it would be perfect. Such a well behaved kitty.

OOOOO, we are having a short story here.
Very smart Sandusky. Don't get stung by the scorpion.
It's funny seeing the behavior of Bunker vs Sandusky. Sure enough. dogs either get right up next to whatever they are investigating or they keep their distance. Cats, on the other hand, tend to get close, but keep what they think is a safe distance. Hopefully Sandusky doesn't get too close and the scorpion get a hold of a whisker.

Very smart Sandusky. Don't get stung by the scorpion. True that... but I would actually be more terrified if that scorpion was a spider. And whenever I see a spider in my mom's duplex now, I just get out the vacuum hose to suck it up and then let the vacuum cleaner run for a good minute or so as to make sure the little bugger is in its proper place. Too bad Sandusky and gang can't just vacuum up the scorpion..... but maybe perhaps if they get a hold of vacuum with superior suction power?

Sierra seems to be the voice of reason, so perhaps she will bail before things get too bad.

I can tell that Sandusky is getting tired of Bunker's paranoia about a little scorpion and wants to get back to his nap. He's getting all sarcastic and melodramatic. Kind of what happens to me when I get interrupted from my naps. Are you making fun of the "California accent" in the last frame there John? Sierra is clearly missing it. I've ran across it a few times during my retail days. I have to say I had a most enjoyable time at my aunts yesterday with her Dogs. Her Rottweiler "Tip" is such a baby and loves to snuggle. Though she happens to be an 80 pound "baby". She kept leaning against me more and more, wanting more and more attention, then suddenly jumps up to go see what the cats are fighting about, leaving me leaning against the air. Then she's back 2 minutes later wanting more attention. She also loved to look at me "nose to nose" like FC in "Rocky Mountain Lion" did with Sandusky. She did have "dead Muskrat" breath though. Probably from the muskrat she killed earlier that day.

Ya know, as annoying as it is, Bunker does have a point. ;D
Our dog Patch was like Bunker. He would sniff the same things every time we went out for a walk in detail. Half the walk would sometimes consist of dragging him along.
Of course other dogs, like Sierra, like to get plenty of distance and take a small sniff here and there over a wider area. This reminds me of a local school teacher's dog, Cody. She walks in front of her owner, going back and forth across the sidewalk, taking a sniff here and there from things along the sidewalk. Rarely needing to be dragged along.

Poor Dusker..... now, why did Bunker have to make him take care of the scorpion deliemma? Now, Sandusky may need therapy.... (I'm referring to todays strip, by the way. )

Heh, Sandusky will bat Turkey Vultures out of the sky, but has nightmares about scorpions. Poor Sandusky didn't even get stung. Bunker is the one who dragged him into this mess.
Though to be fair, we all have little quirks like that.
At least Scott gets plenty of exercise from carrying around a Cougar. I wonder where he keeps the crowbar so he can pry Sandusky off of him. Perhaps he should leave Bunker outside to be Sandusky's "security blanket".

Another thing I have noticed with Wednesdays comic is why do many dogs and cats like to sleep with their paws hanging over a ledge like we see in the first frame? Our dog Patch often liked to sleep with his body on something soft, like carpet, and his paws on something hard, like the hardwood floor. This inevitably meant that he tended to sleep in doorways, but sometimes he would sleep in his bed like he was supposed to. Just a random thought.
